After a mild case of the flu over the holidays, Audrey's belly started to fill up and became distended. We thought she may have been overly constipated but after a few tests, we discovered that she had fluid on her lungs and in the stomach, her bowels were inflamed and irritated and she had low protein levels. She was immediately admitted to our local children's hospital where she stayed for 5 days. After a few more tests and after her stomach came back to normal she was released and we are now watching her from home. She is undergoing more lab tests to keep an eye on the protein levels but for the most part she is doing good. During the entire event, she continued to be in good spirits, playing with the toys in the hospital and taking advantage of quality Audrey and Mom time.
