Estes Park vacation

The annual Townsend family vacation was in Estes Park, Colorado this year. Everyone flew out to Denver early in the week. We met up at the airport and then drove to Estes Park, where we settled into a cabin owned by Jason's family. Each day was planned so that we could enjoy activities together or separately as individual families. The weather was great, cool and comfortable and the cabin gave us alot of room to relax and hang out with the family.

The first day we drove to the top of the mountains to the continental divide. I was only able to go half way up but Alyssa and Tom climbed to the top.

Each day of the trip, Alyssa looked for rocks. She found some in the freezing cold waters of the streams downtown, around the cabin and at the rock store that we visited twice during out week stay.

We took on a few trails throughout Rocky Mountain National Park. We all hiked around the lakes and up to the falls (where the guys, excluding Nick, got lost). Tom, Dad and Gretchen also hiked another trail one morning to get some additional exercise.

We also enjoyed some fun time. We played a round of minature golf - girls against boys. Alyssa had a hole in one and was pretty excited about it. Alyssa also got to ride Joe, Jason's parents horse. Gretchen led Joe and Alyssa around the pen.

We had given Alyssa her own camera for the trip. She took alot of great pictures of the family, landscaping and ground squirrels. She took almost 200 pictures on her digital camera during the trip.

We have a ton of pictures from this trip. I am working on another family vacation scrapbook for everyone. I imagine it will take a few months to complete but well worth it to be able to look back at all the memories.
